Il Ramo d’oro” (The golden brunch) is a no profit art gallery active in Naples, Italy, since the 2000. It has arranged in its exhibition space and in public exhibition spaces many artistic, social and

cultural events cooperating with regional, national and international institutions. Its activity is characterized for the attention for stranger artists and for the effort to promote Italian artists abroad.

“Il Ramo d’Oro” has an elegant exhibition space very conveniently located on one of the hills of Naples called Vomero. Easy to reach by the urban motorway of Naples and by the station of the

“Metro of art” Quattro Giornate. This no profit organization regularly arranges an art exhibition every month since December until June.In add to its main activity “Il Ramo d’Oro” arranges also musical or theatrical performances, courses on different arguments and parties. Our association participates every year since the 2003 to the “May of Monuments”, the most important

art festival of Naples. A short trailer about our activities could be watched at the following link: http://youtu.be/8FTytrtu6rg

We constantly document by videos our activity on our youtube channel www.youtube.com/vimotre which contains more than 100 videos. We publish catalogs on line and on paper about our exhibitions that could be watched at the following link: http://issuu.com/ilramodoro  .

History:

Founded in the 2000 by Vincenzo Montella ( http://www.absolutearts.com/portfolios/v/vincenzo ), who isstill the curator and president and the Indonesian artist Setyo Mardyantoro (http://www.absolutearts.com/portfolios/m/mardiyantoro ).

The staff include: the architect Gianfranco Erbani, who arranged the space and most of our exhibitions, the architect Franco Lista who cooperated to our workshops

and the video maker Rino Vellecco who did most of our videos. The whole staff offers voluntary cooperation. Our goal was to show the work of self represented artists from all over the world. We developed our contacts mainly on line but we concretely arranged exhibitions in our small corner of the world.

More than 100 artists, until now, participated to our activities. They mainly sent their artworks by snail mail but often they also sent video introductions to their work and sometime they came in

person. The exhibitions are not commercial but have mainly a promotional propose and we found that were interested in it local artists who need to show their recent production to their own public or foreign artists who wants to add an exhibition in Italy to their own curricula.

When the exhibition take place in our exhibition space Il Ramo d’Oro offers the attendance to the exhibition, the press release and invitation by e-mail and sms, video and photographic documentation. The artists are charged of the expenses relative to the production of the artworks and their transport and eventual insurance, they also offer an opening party. A catalog on line is provided but the printed version in on charge of the artists if required. When the exhibition is in a public space the artists are charged also of the expenses of maintenance if required.

Between the exhibitions that we organized recently particularly touching was “Nijiiro One Mind and One Heart”, Castel dell’Ovo, Napoli, Italy, March 9-21, 2013, celebrating the second anniversary of Fukushima disaster with the presence of many Japanese artists. A video about it could be watched at the following link: http://youtu.be/iDJoJdwyNOc .

In the last two years we organized our exhibitions as a workshop called “Workshop of aesthetic self consciousness” that was about reading the art works and curating exhibitions. A book about this experience has been published last December.

Projects:

In the 2015 season we are introducing a series of experiences and local association trying to develop a local network in different but complementary areas. The groups invited will be an association of street artists, a group of cartoon drawers, a class of photography, three African immigrants (a cartoonist, a writer and an actor), the designers of a t-shirt factory. This in order to empower our and our partners activities. We hope in the future to do the same on the international scene.
